How to Pack a RAW Cone for Beginners

If you're anything like us, smoking a classic joint is one of the most enjoyable smoking options. But, if you are like us, rolling a joint is often a hassle and takes much longer than hitting a bowl, bong, or pipe. You have to be patient when rolling a joint, and honestly, sometimes we don't have a lot of patience. We just want to start our sesh.

That's why we love RAW cones. They are extremely convenient, especially compared to hand-rolling your own joints. Below we'll walk you through how to pack a RAW cone with your favorite cannabis flower.

What's A Raw Cone?

If you don't already know, a RAW cone is basically a pre-roll cone made with the same rolling papers you use to roll joints. RAW cones are unbleached, and already rolled into a cone and usually come with a filter tip. Smoking a RAW cone is a lot like smoking a joint, but it fans out at the top into the cone shape.

1. Grind Your Cannabis

The first thing you need to do is grind your flower. If you don't have a grinder, see our breakdown of what to do here! Don't worry about it - there’s lots of ways to grind your weed without a grinder.

If you like using RAW cones, you will eventually want to get a grinder so you can be sure the cannabis flower is broken down into tiny pieces. The smaller the cannabis pieces are, the easier it will be to pack your cone. It’s a good idea to have a rolling tray on hand to keep things clean and organized.

Grind enough cannabis to fill the entire cone so you don't have to go back and grind more later. If you don't have enough cannabis, the cone will be too loose, and you'll probably have an unpleasant smoking experience.

2. Fill The RAW Cone

Once your weed is nice and small and ready to go, you can start filling your cone. This should be as simple as picking up pieces of your flower and dropping them into your cone.

Keep a good grip on the stem of the RAW cone as you fill it, but don't grip the cone too hard or you'll ruin the filter. Hold on loosely, but don't let go.

If you don't want to use your fingers to load the cone, you can use tweezers or cone packing accessories to help speed up the process even more.

3. Pack Your Cone

Once your RAW cone is filled, you can start packing. You can buy a cone packer for this, or just use something like a chopstick or something skinny to pack the cone down.

While you pack the cone, add more cannabis as needed so the joint doesn't get too short.

Most people like to alternate between filling their cone and packing it to keep everything in order. And always be sure to keep your joint as even as possible when you're packing it.

4. Twist Your Cone

Once your cone is filled and firmly packed, you need to twist the top of the joint. Make sure your joint is the correct length before twisting the rolling paper.

If it's not the right length, it will be hard to refill the cone after you've twisted the rolling paper. Once the joint is tightly twisted, it's time to smoke!

Light Up Your RAW Cone!

Now you know how to pack a RAW cone the easy way and you've hopefully packed your very first RAW cannabis cone. RAW cones might be the best thing to hit the smoking market since glass pipes and lighters. RAW cones smoke really well and are easier to pack, especially if you are used to rolling joints.

The last step in this process is to sit back, light up, and enjoy the moment. You've worked hard for it.
