In honor of our September subscription box collab, here are 10 other facts you might not have known about the smokin’ Chanel West Coast.
You may recognize her as sidekick to Rob Dyrdek on the MTV show Ridiculousness, but she’s also famous for being a rapper, singer, songwriter, actress and model!
Chanel West Coast grew up straddling the coasts, spending time between her mother’s residence in North Hollywood, CA, and her father’s pad in New York City.
Her father was a DJ, fostering her love of music by taking her to nightclubs throughout NYC when she was a child.
A lover of the game, Chanel cites Tupac’s “How Do U Want It” as her inspiration for getting into rapping.
By age 14, she was set on making a name for herself in the performing arts. She began rapping and dove headfirst into chasing her dreams.
In 2009, she made an appearance in Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me” video, and dedicated vocals to a song with Tiffanie Anderson of Pussycat Dolls fame, called “Melting Like Ice Cream.”
In 2012, Chanel West Coast was signed by none other than Lil Wayne (!) to his label Young Money Entertainment.
Her mixtape “Now You Know” was released in 2013, and featured Evan Ross, French Montana, and Snoop Dogg!
While she was becoming a household name through her role in “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory,” her music career was taking off. She was even one of the contributors to the popular compilation album, Young Money: Rise of an Empire.
After her “Fantasy Factory” success, Chanel was cast in a lead role in Ridiculousness, much to the delight of every MTV viewer. I mean, who doesn’t love her infectious giggles onscreen?!
In 2014, Ms. West Coast received the Best Group Award for her collab “Hittin’ Like” with artist Shanell, proving she has serious song talent.
In addition to being DHC’s collab partner for this month’s subscription box of smoking supplies, Chanel West Coast also has a new single out! Check out her song “Nobody” on Spotify or watch the new video below!
